Song Review: Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin vs Disco Duck by Rick Dees & His Cast of Idiots

Don't Worry Be Happy and Disco Duck are 2 of the most overhated songs of all time. They are both genuinely enjoyable, fun, fantastic songs. Why? Let's talk about them. First, there's Don't Worry Be Happy. This song is like the 80s equivalent of Sunday Best. It's nice, happy, enjoyable, and fun. Except while Sunday Best is bombastic and energetic, Don't Worry Be Happy is more relaxing and chill. It's very nice and mellow. On top of that, Bobby McFerrin has a great voice. It's so nice and comforting. Oh, and for those of you that hate this song because it's mindless and doesn't offer any real value, and just tells you to put on a smile and look at the bright side of life? Yeah? So what? What's wrong with a song that just tells you to be happy? Oh, I know that the mindset of "Life's problems will go away with a smile" is a really bad mindset to have. But this song doesn't promote that mindset. It just wants you to be happy. Sure life isn't always sunshine and rainbows, but it's not a good idea to look at life as a depressed pessimist. There's a difference between being a realist and being a pessimist. I'm fine if you hate this song, but in my opinion, if you hate songs like Sunday Best and DWBH, the problem isn't the songs. The problem is you. You are so cynical and depressed that you see songs like Sunday Best and DWBH as mocking. And I think that's an incredibly toxic mindset. These songs aren't mocking you. They're just trying to cheer you up. And if you don't want that kind of thing, then don't listen to it. So yeah, Don't Worry Be Happy is a fun, relaxing, nice piece of happiness that doesn't deserve any kind of hate. Moving on to Disco Duck. Unlike DWBH, I understand the hate for Disco Duck a little more. It is incredibly dumb and stupid. But in my opinion, that's the appeal of the song. It's just a dumb, ridiculous piece of 70's cheese. I mean, it's called Disco Duck. What were you expecting? On top of that, I like the song. The production is fun and enjoyable, Rick has a good voice, and that Donald Duck impression isn't half bad. It's an incredibly ridiculous, fun, happy piece of cheese. In conclusion, Don't Worry Be Happy and Disco Duck are both fun and overhated as hell songs. If you haven't heard these songs, check them out. And if you hate one or both of these songs, fine. I don't have a problem with you hating something I don't. I'm just sick of these songs getting so much flack for being what they are.
