Album Review: Labrinth, Sia & Diplo present... LSD by LSD

Since I'm a massive fan of bizarre music, and I've talked about Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo at least once on this blog, it only makes sense that I'd review the debut Studio Album of their band, LSD. Let's dig in.

Labrinth, Sia and Diplo Present... LSD.png

Cover: This cover is absolutely fantastic. It's pretty, it's eye catching, it's trippy, it's everything you'd want in an album cover and more. Verdict: 5/5.

Song 1: Welcome To The Wonderful World Of

Welcome To The World Of is a very good intro track. It's a very bizarre, weird song, that does a good job of showing you what you'll be in for. The only problem is that some parts of this song are extremely grating, especially Sia screaming. But it's still really interesting, and a decent beginning.

Verdict: 4/5.

Song 2: Angel In Your Eyes

This song is really funky. The beat is cool, Labrinth sounds great as usual, the instrumentation is really funky and cool, Sia sounds great, and the song has a great vibe. It's just an all around funky, fantastic piece of music.
Verdict: 5/5

Song 3: Genius

Genius is a really cool song. The production is really good, the pianos are cool, Labrinth and Sia sound great as usual, there's a bit of funk added in, Diplo's beat is fantastic as usual, the chorus is fantastic, and the song reminds me a little of classical music at points. All in all, a very cool, interesting, and enjoyable piece of music.

Verdict: 5/5.

Song 4: Audio

I really like this song. It's an enjoyably trippy piece of relaxingness. Labrinth and Sia both sound great, the instrumentals are really cool and nice to listen to, Diplo's beat is great as usual, and like Lean On, Bad Liar, and Demons, Audio is an incredibly immersive listening experience. Also, the instrumental break is fantastic. Audio is easily the best song on this album.

Verdict: 5/5.

Song 5: Thunderclouds

Thunderclouds is a very pretty piece of music. Everything about it is so tranquil, nice and cool. Labrinth is great, Sia sounds great, the guitars are lovely, it's just a lovely, enjoyable tune. Nothing more, nothing less.

Verdict: 4/5.

Song 6: Mountains

Mountains is really cool. The beat is relaxing and funky, Labrinth and Sia both sound great, the lyrics are decent, it's just an enjoyable funky jam.
Verdict: 4/5.

Song 7: No New Friends

This song is really cool. The beat is funky and nice, Labrinth and Sia sound great, and like Angel In Your Eyes, No New Friends has a lovely, funky cool vibe.

Verdict: 5/5.

Song 8: Heaven Can Wait

Heaven Can Wait is one of the more mediocre songs on the album. The beat is certainly funky, bur it has a sludgy, ugly vibe, and it can get screechy at points. A definite skip.

Verdict: 2/5.

Song 9: It's Time

Wow this is boring. Like, seriously. For an album supposed to be all weird and cool, this song sticks out like a sore thumb. Sia sounds terrible, Labrinth sounds boring, and the song feels more at home in Macklemore's Gemini than this album. Easily the worst song on the album.

Verdict: 0/5.

Song 10: Genius (Lil Wayne Remix)

Since I already talked about the original song, I'm only going to talk about Lil Wayne's verses. And he's pretty good. He doesn't even remotely compare to how he did in Sucker For Pain and Be Like Me, but he still sounds alright. But despite Lil Wayne being alright, this is basically just an inferior version of the original, has no reason to exist, and honestly isn't a great choice to end the album on. Still alright though.

Verdict: 4/5.

Final Thoughts: As expected, Labrinth, Sia & Diplo present... LSD is a fantastic album. While it does fall apart near the end, LSD does have a lot of fantastic songs. Genius is great, Angel In Your Eyes is funky as hell, Thunderclouds is nice and tranquil, and don't even get me started on how amazing Audio is. I highly recommend checking this album out, and can't wait to hear more from LSD.

Verdict: 5/5.

Best Songs: Audio, Genius, Angel In Your Eyes, No New Friends, Thunderclouds.

Worst Songs: Heaven Can Wait, It's Time
