Top 10 Best Made For Movie Songs

I am extremely passionate about film. And music review shows have made me passionate about music. So I figure it would be a good idea to combine these 2 passions into one, with my list of my top 10 favorite Made for Movie songs. Now, these aren't just songs that are in movies. No, these are songs specifically made for movies. Just to make that clear. Anyways, let's get started!!

10.

Immortals by Fall Out Boy (From Big Hero 6)

Big Hero 6 is ok. It's not great, it's not awful, it's just ok. But this song? It's really good. The beat is really energetic and in your face, Patrick Stump sounds great as usual, and the song itself is just a massive jam. The music video is also great. Like 3005, it's beautifully simplistic. Just a record with Baymax's face spinning around. Beautiful. So yeah, this song is great. It's no Uma Thurman or Wilson (Expensive Mistakes), but definitely a highlight in Fall Out Boy's discography.

9.

Dangerous Business by Rogers and Clarke (From Ishtar)

Yes, I did see the infamous 1987 "classic" Ishtar. And I'm mixed on it. The film does have some good aspects. The humor is clever, dry, and witty, the characters are interesting, and I love the relationship between Rogers and Clarke. However, the stuff with the resistance and message of God stuff felt really unnecessary and stupid, and ruined a movie that was otherwise doing just fine. But Dangerous Business, made by the characters in movie, is pretty good. The beat is nice and jazzy, Beatty and Hoffman sound great, and the song has a beautiful, chaotic randomness, that reflects their characters perfectly. While I don't recommend the film it came from, Dangerous Business is a really good song that I highly recommend checking out.

8.

East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed (from Smokey And The Bandit)

Smokey And The Bandit is one of the best films of the 1970s. The characters are fantastic, it's insanely funny, and the trucker atmosphere is insanely immersive. And this song is just as awesome. The production is fantastic, the lyrics are good, Reed sounds fantastic, and the song itself is just a fun, charismatic jam. East Bound And Down manages to beautifully capture the tone and spirit of the movie it's from, while sounding amazing at the same time.

7.
Problem Child by The Beach Boys (from Problem Child)

I love Problem Child. The characters are great, it's insanely funny and cartoonish, and has a deliciously enjoyable mean streak, that sadly went over critics heads. And on top of that, it gave us the seventh entry for this list. I don't really have strong feelings on The Beach Boys, but this song is amazing. Brian Wilson sounds great, the song has lovely production that manages to perfectly capture the anarchic nature of the film, and the music video with Junior messing around in the recording studio is really hilarious. Unlike Dangerous Business, I highly recommend checking out both the song, and the movie it came from. You won't regret either one.

6.

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life by Eric Idle (From Monty Python's Life Of Brian)

It goes without saying that Monty Python's Life Of Brian is brilliant because, well, it's made by Monty Python. But even ignoring that, Life Of Brian is a brilliant religious satire. And on top of that, it ends with one of the best songs to ever be in a Monty Python film, or any movie. Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life is a tune that manages to be both happy and uplifting, and absolutely hilarious at the same time, all done by the absolutely hilarious Eric Idle. It also brilliantly fits the context of the film, and has some great meta humor. If you haven't heard this song, play the video above, and you'll see what the bright side of life looks like.

5.

We're All Dudes by Kel Mitchell and Less Than Jake (From Good Burger)

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE GOOD BURGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's easily the best Nickelodeon film ever made, with great characters, juvenile as hell, but incredibly funny humor, and some of the weirdest scenes ever to be in a kids movie. And We're All Dudes manages to perfectly capture the fun idiocy of the film. Like the previous song, it's a song that's meant to cheer you up and make you happy. But while Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life is witty and humorous, We're All Dudes is just mindless fun. It's a fantastic, fun, infectious jam. Check out this song if you want something fun, and REALLY check out Good Burger if you haven't already. Like seriously, it's such a great movie.

4.

Sucker For Pain by Logic, Imagine Dragons, Ty Dolla $ign, X Ambassadors, Lil Wayne, and Wiz Khalifa (From Suicide Squad)

And now we go from talking about a fun, happy mindless song from one of the best movies ever made, to a dark, depressing song about pain, from one of the worst movies ever made. While Suicide Squad is a controversial movie to say the least (and one that I haven't seen because, come on. It's called Suicide Squad. Does that look like a movie I would be interested in?), one thing that everyone can agree on is the soundtrack. The Suicide Squad soundtrack has a ton of really good songs. And while Heathens by Twenty One Pilots is a decent song, and was going to be #10, before I remembered Problem Child, Sucker For Pain is easily the best song on the soundtrack. It shouldn't be as good as it is, not only because it's a dark song about pain, but because it has a bunch of singers, most of which don't really have that much talent. But surprisingly, everyone sounds good in this song. Dan Reynolds sounds fantastic, Wiz and Ty sound really good, Logic is great, Lil Wayne sounds surprisingly great, considering he has one of the worst voices I've ever heard, and X Ambassadors' verse at the end is incredibly chilling. Sucker For Pain is a fantastic song, that really shouldn't be associated with a movie as bad as Suicide Squad. And speaking of Imagine Dragons....

3.

Zero by Imagine Dragons (From Wreck It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks The Internet)

I already reviewed this song in my previous blog post, so if you want a full, detailed explanation of why I love this song, check out that. But the short version is that Zero is excellent in every sense of the word. The production is funky and cool, Dan Reynolds sounds fantastic, the music video and lyric video are both fantastic, the lyrics are deep and interesting, but the best part is that bridge. That slow, amazing buildup that just sucks you in, and makes the already awesome chorus even punchier. Bottom line, Zero is fantastic, and you'd have to try really hard to make a made for movie song better than this one. Luckily, some people did.

2.

Sunflower by Swae Lee and Post Malone (From Spider Man: Into The Spiderverse) and Better When I'm Dancin' by Meghan Trainor (From The Peanuts Movie)

Yup, these songs were so good, I had to combine them into one entry. Let's start with Sunflower. Sunflower is a song that's both relaxing and groovy. It's such an intoxicating, fun piece of relaxingness. The production is awesome, Swae and Post sound amazing, and while the lyrics are...strange to say the least, similar to Rather Be and True, Sunflower is a song that's simply meant to be a song that your relax and groove to, rather than analyze for lyrics. So let's move on to Better When I'm Dancin'. I have an extreme love-hate relationship with Meghan Trainor. She's made some songs I really love, like Me Too and Lips Are Movin', as well as songs I can't stand, like No and Dear Future Husband. But Better When I'm Dancin' is absolutely fantastic. The production is bouncy and fun, Meghan sounds incredible, and like We're All Dudes, it's a song that's meant to make you happy, put a gigantic smile on your face, and well, make you dance. I get the Meghan Trainor hate, but I dare anyone to hate this song, because you can't. So yeah, Sunflower and Better When I'm Dancin' are absolutely fantastic songs, from 2 great movies. So what could be better?

1.

Back In Time by Pitbull (From Men In Black 3)

Back In Time By Pitbull is 5 thousand doses of cheese, with a coating of awesomeness. The production is awesome, coupled with that great sample of Love Is Strange, Pitbull is absolutely incredible, but really, this song is great because it's just a fun, and enjoyably mindless groove. Every time I hear this song, I just want to dance and sing along at the top of my lungs. If you can't have fun with this song at least a little, you are a certified grumpypants. And sure, the lyrics don't have that much to do with MIB, but neither do most of these songs. And honestly, who cares about relevancy when a song is this good. Oh, and I almost forgot about that awesome as hell drop near the end. It's so groovy, bassy and awesome. I don't know how to make bassy production sound good, but this song found a way. Bottom line, I absolutely fricking love Back In Time. It's a fun, infectious, enveloping dance groove from a good movie. To say I recommend checking out this song is an understatement. More like I highly endorse it.
